Default No Digi Database?

Been having some problems using a new 3TB Seagate Baracuda drive. PT will suddenly not playback the track just recorded. I can see the waveform and can also playback the files in question using other sources like the computers preview, but playing back the particular track in PT just results in a full scale white noise for the duration of the track. All other tracks playback fine, however if I perform an edit like a fade or crossfire, I get the same noise blast for the duration of the edit. Once this starts happening I am unable to record/playback any more tracks although the previous recordings prior to the incident keep playing fine.

One thing I've noticed while trashing prefs and databases is that there is no database file ever created on this drive. I'm thinking this may be the problem. The drive seems to work fine using all my sample related VI's that are also on that drive so seems to be operating properly. What would cause the failure of PT not creating a database file on that drive and is there a way to correct it?

8.1.1 I believe. It's the most current version before 9.

Just read something that database files are not created on all drives after 8.0.3, only system drive so perhaps that isn't the problem. I've been trying to remedy this for a week now and just can't seem to find the solution even with several PT reinstalls.

So are you saying that this just started happening as of the installation of this Seagate? Have you tried swapping it out?

No, I seem to have had a few weeks with no problems, then all of a sudden.....

At first I thought that the installation of a driver to run the axe edit software for my newly acquired axe fx2 was causing a problem since the axe2 can act as an audio interface and is connected via USB, but I disconnected this for a couple of days and the problem came back. After doing a PT uninstall/reinstall seems to get things working for a day and then it starts happening again. Switching or allocating future tracks to another drive and the problem goes away. Baffling.
