Problem with fades in pt 7.4

hi,
i´m working right now with a mac pro dual 2,6ghz, 5gb ram, running 10.4.9 and pro tools 7.4 cs5.
i have a problem. i have this since quiet some time but now it hurts sothere has to be a solution.
when i´m selecting a couple of edited regions which are not faded or crossfaded and make command-F and select a specific fade type, pro tools just makes fades like it want, not like i selected.
for example, i select a linear fade/crossfade.
pro tools will fade out all regions with a logarythmic fade (preset curve 5) and fade in with another logarythmic curve (preset curve 3).
now, whats wrong?
can anyone help me?
