Default Mp3 option is screwing with me

I just downloaded the activation code and tried to burn an mp3 of a song and it made three different files one was the song title with the mp3 extension. The other two were strange file names like weoihjsd8937hqwjerh with no extension but they were HUGE like 73MB. I tried this several times converting during and after with no luck.

Sorry vanquished1, I know what you mean, posted something here and no one responded. I did figure out my problem myself which is a good thing, but some suggestions would have been welcome. I just installed Pro Tools over the weekend and I want to get the MP3 option. If I get it tonight I will give it a try and see if I can give you some suggestions or I may just be monitoring this thread to see if you find a solution. Good luck.

The two large files are temporary files. The bounce process needs to create temporary wav files to convert to mp3. If you still have the large files, the process is not completing properly.

Does this happen with every bounce?

You might want to try re-installing.

Also, your situation might be unique, which might be why noone answered you. If nobody has had the same or similar problem, it's hard for them to give you advice. I've never had the problem of the bounce to mp3 not completing, but I am familiar with the temporary files.

And lastly, this is a users forum. We, as other users, offer assistance when we can and when we are familiar with a situation. If you feel the product that you purchased is not performing correctly, you should contact Tech Support directly.

OK I went to the store and purchased a license and activiated it. I cannot convert, it tells me that the demo period has expired. Sorry, I didn't even make it far enough along to help you. I have a contact in. Oh, if only something ever worked for me the first time

Sorry SpK I was't trying to rag on the users, I know whats up I was just hoping someone knew. But Greg I had the Same problem you definitely need to reinstall. I probably do too. Almost all of my problems with pro tools have been solved by reinstalling I just hate doing it.

You mean the whole package don't you. I thought about that and you are most likely right. I did read an article that says to blow away the directory that the MP3 option is installed in and re-install. I would assume that since the upgrade package I installed on top of 7.4 contained the MP3 Option, it wasn't there before, maybe the install of MP3 option doesn't handle it correctly when there is already a version on disk. I'm going to give that a try tonight and see if that does fix the problem. Thanks for the suggestion.

Try reading this support FAQ, specifically the part titled "When I try to authorize MP3 option I still get the MP3 demo window saying it has expired."

Thanks for the suggestion, I did see that article last night and I just tried it. When I run the installer it pops up a command window and says shut down etc. I press any key to start and I can see an error message pop up in the window but it vanishes so fast I cannot tell what it is. It then reports that the install finished but there are no files in the Codecs\MP3 directory. I am logged in under an administrator account and I checked the event viewer there is nothing there. I also ran checkdisk just to be sure that I am not seeing the start of a hard drive failure. Has me stumped and I still have not heard anything from the support request that I entered.

I've tried everything suggested and this will just not work. Tech support aren't very responsive are they? I'm going to call today and try and get my money back. I'll bounce it out and convert using something else. I downloaded the Eleven LE plug-in and I want to buy it but I'm afraid to now because that thing costs $400, the MP3 Option was just $20. I don't want a 400 dollar piece of software that I can't use because I can't get it to register and run properly.
