Default Direct I/O limitation

I still use Digital Performer with TDM hardware. Occasionally I like to use MAS with Direct i/o instead of DAE. Only problem is that when I use Direct I/O it only sees interfaces connected to the Mix Core card. And no interfaces that are hooked up to the farm. Is this a limitation of Direct I/O or Digital Performer?

Is this something Digi could fix? It makes direct i/o hardly useable.

I would love to get official word from Digi on this.

Thanks

-Unfortunately, this is a limitation of Direct I/O. Only the first interface is recognized.

-Although I'm not sure if it is even possible, I do not think Direct I/O will ever support multiple interfaces.

This is is not exactly correct -- only interfaces connected to the first card can be used.

For example, this means you can use 2 888's or a single 1622 -- they just have to be connected to the Core card.

Thanks, that's too bad.

Would it be possible to hook up my A/B cable on the first card and use the Apogee AD-8000 on channel A and ADAT bridge (1-8) on channel B. Then use ADAT 9-16 on the mix farm? This way I could at least get 8 ADAT ins/outs and 8 analog ins when using direct i/o. This would pretty much solve my problems.

I suppose I could just try it, but I figured I would ask. Thanks for your replies.
