Snake Card and MADI?

Do we need to have a snake card in the FOH rack if we are using the MADI card for our inputs. (there are 2 cards in the rack but we are only using 1 of them for outputs to the system)

Hey Scott,

Each MADI option card in the FOH Rack requires a Snake card to be connected to the same Mix Engine the MADI card is connected to. This is the same for the HDx option card.

So if you have 2 MADI option cards, you would need two Snake cards.

Mike---does it make any difference if we are not using a stage rack for the inputs. We are using another source to drive the MADI lines. Don't think so but wanted to check,

Mike can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe you still need the snake card as it hosts the word clock module. Without the card you wouldn't be able to synchronize either the onboard or an external clock. Although Madi streams can carry embedded clock signal, Venue requires an independent clock input. You can still choose to make either your Madi source or the desk the master.

You are correct Brent, each MADI card needs to receive it's clock from a Snake card. So 2 MADI cards require 2 Snake cards (even if you aren't using a second Stage Rack).
