Default Pro Tools 8 iLok with Windows 8?

I have Pro Tools M-Powered 8 running successfully on a Windows 7 laptop. I loaded the software in a Windows 8.1 desk top machine, but cannot get Pro Tools to recognize the activation on the dongle. I downloaded the PACE iLok manager software and it tells me that there is no activation on my dongle. However, the dongle still activates the software in my laptop. Any suggestions?

Its an unsupported combination of MP and OS Stick with the Win7 machine.

Thanks Dave. Is there an upgrade that will allow me to run my Pro Tools 8 in Windows 8? I hate to think that I spent $800.00 on software and an interface that's tied to an outdated operating system.

I would remove the system drive with Win8 and install a blank drive and load up Win 7

Bare in mind here, 'Sound' is the name of the game. If your getting good results out of your Win7 setup then there's nothing wrong with "an outdated operating system".

I'm not sure what Win 8 offers over 7 in terms of performance but I can't imagine it's huge gains.

What is your particular reason for wanting to go to 8?

To answer this specifically, you can upgrade to Pro Tools 11, but that's a lot more money and a whole new "ballgame" that you likely don't need. Loading Windows 7 is the most cost-effective move if you need to move to a new machine.
