Default Peavey VPM-2

Has anyone used this mic pre. I need a good stereo tube preamp. I've heard good things about this and am a little leary of the Peavey name for pro audio. I'm saving up for the Vintech 1272's but wondered if this would be a good choice for half the price????

Help.

thanks

It sounds like it's built (which is good). However, I've 'heard' comments like, it wails after you change the tubes...

i've been using one ever since they first came out. it's a great unit in my opinion. i was also leary of the peavy name at first until a local salesman brought one to the studio for a try out. i made him leave it.

Joe Barresi (Queens of the Stoneage, Kyuss, Fu Manchu, L7, Limp Bizkit...) is a big fan of the VMP-2.

Hey Miles . . . . how did you make out with you VMP-2?

At our studio here we have every kind of pre-amp available.
Neve's, Tube Teck, Avalon, Manley, you get the idea. The VMP-2 is probably the
best 2 channel pre-amp for the money. The eq is to die for if used correctly.
The tubes are run at high voltage and continueous!

The HHB Radius 10 4 channel (which we have) is nice for the fact that it's 4 channels. The VMP-2 blows it out of the water. The Radius cant hold water to it in any area. (Except that it has 4 channels)

Hey Marty,
Thanks for the advice.. I love my Sytek mpx for my 4 channel.... I think I'll check out the Peavey and the neve's .. in that order.

The next purchase is the MiniDDAC to compliment my rosetta..

Peace
