Default can you open PT 7.0 files in 6.9?

i'm currently running PT 6.9 on a G4 desktop machine (digi002R system). i have a macbook (intel dual duo core 2) and am considering getting PT 7 for it, in the event i run out of processing on the G4.

would i be able to open the 7.0 files on my 6.9 machine and vice versa?

thanks!
peace.

You just need to 'save as' when going from ver 7 to 6 or lower... other way is fine - Pro Tools will just convert it to a .ptf
