I remember reading about ilok2 having a higher failure rate than ilok1, has this issue been resolved? If not, then this is truly worriesome...

Failure rate? Huh. The only issue I ever had was my fault (accidentally dislodged the edge connector). This after YEARS of trouble free use, and I got YEARS of trouble free use with my replacement (read my other post about how quickly they accomodated MY mistake!)
So now I have an I-lok 2, it's smaller and less prone to accidental damage. What sort of "failures" have you experienced?

Umm...

If you're talking about failure rate at factory, then why do you care? It is up to seller to provide working products.

If on the other hand you're talking about how many keys break when actually being used... then... rest assured, the new key is 1000% more sturdy than the old one. One reason being that the new key does not have SIM card reader so therefore the new key is shorter. It is very much less likely to break. But that said, I would still recommend a foot long USB cable between the ilok and your workstation because you never know what is going to happen.

iLok2 is all good! I only wish iLok3 would be made of metal

+1 but I'd probably cut myself if iLok3 were made of metal.

I'd wish it would be made of a metal that would weight quite heavy; then I'd be able to say "look at my heavy metal iLok!" ... now that'd be a punch line!

If all of you guys will remember the ilok2 did have some issues initially but I don't remember what the scenario was

If it was bad devices or bad keys or how the end users were using them - to be honest I don't remember the details but I do remember the posts on the DUC about them

But all of those historical issues have been resolved and I personally haven't had a single issue with my ilok2

Happy Camper
