Question wav to mp3 dither question

Hi guys,

I'm wondering, I have wav songs at 24 bits full quality and I have to send my work in mp3 format. My question is should I dither from 24 bits to 16 (like for a cd music for exemple) then convert into mp3, or I can convert directly from 24 bits to mp3 with no dithering? Keep in mind, it's for web distribution only, mp3 format.

What you guys think? Opinons?

Thank you for yout time!

Yes, iTunes added 24-bit support a couple years ago. You can encode 24-bit WAVs directly to mp3. Should sound at least as good, possibly slightly better than dithering down first, as the encoding algorithm theoretically has more accurate data to interpret.
