U160 drive on PT-III?
I am in need of a new drive for my PT-III PCI system, and all I seem to see available are U160 drives. This brings up a couple of questions:
What is the interface on the PT-III disk I/O card? SCSI-2 Narrow? If I connect a U160 (or even a Ultra2 Wide) to the disk I/O using a 50 to 68 pin adapter cable, will it play nicely with PT? Thanks, |

Re: U160 drive on PT-III?
Hello,
I have a MAC 9600/200 Power PC. It has the DB25 scsi built in. I currently have a SCSI 4 gig external hard drive that connects via a 50 pin centronics. I will be upgrading soon to a G4 and will then get a SCSI PCI card that will support 68-pin VHDCI. My question: I am about to buy a 18 gig SCSI Seagate ST118202LW. It is SCSI 68-pin LVD. To use it on my current system, is there an adapter or cable that will convert 68pin SCSI-3 LVD to a 50 pin Centronics? If so how much? Part #'s? I know others who are hoping to do the same.... Thank You Robert DeGroff [email protected] |

Re: U160 drive on PT-III?
I use a Belkin F2N973-04 which is a 50 Pin Centronics to Micro 68 Pin cable with my backup drive.
Check out www.belkin.com and click on "Belkin Wizards" to find various cable configurations. I have yet to use it on the PT-III Disk I/O, I'm hoping for some feedback soon, as I need to order a new drive for a poject starting this week. I tried to find something that I could connect directly from the PT disk I/O to a 68 pin LVD, but with that wacky tiny Digi connector, there doesn't seem to be an option other than to place some 50 pin centronics device in the middle as an "interface". Ray. |
