DISASTER.
So, about a few weeks ago I erased my FW hard drive that had most of my ProTools 6.4 sessions on it from the past few years. I won't go into how I did it, suffice to say it was operator error. I purchased two data recovery programs, and was able to recover some ProTools sessions...the sessions lost their names, which were replaced with number strings. I can open a few of them, and re-link their files.
Unfortunately, the majority of them come with an error code when I try to open them: "Could not complete your request because Assertion in "UProToolsApp.cpp", line 3970." Also, the files that won't open have ridiculous file sizes...522kb, 242kb, and a bunch that register as 360MB! I should note that I am now attempting to open these files in the same OS (10.3.9), but on a cloned version of my system drive on a different computer. Don't know if that makes any difference. My fear is that this error message means the file structure has somehow been corrupted, and are now lost. But I wanted to post here and see if anybody has had a similar experience, and was able to solve it <fingers crossed>. |
