Another ATTO question...
I've been told that the ATTO ExpressPCI-DC Ultra/WIDE SCSI (the retail vers), works just fine with ProTools. I will be using it in a post-production environment with a limited number of tracks and a data density of 24/48.
Since it is quite a bit cheaper, could I get away with using this card? Thanks, JAY |

Re: Another ATTO question...
It depends what you mean by 'ProTools', but for what it's worth, I've been using ATTO Express PCI PSC cards for a few years now on two PT systems (Mix and d24) and they've been flawless. I'll probably try it out on my new Accel 3 system until I can get the fancy cabling needed for a UL3D.
PSCs used to be on the grid for d24 and Mix systems, and now they're not officially declared incompatible, but they're not officially being tested with new systems. My thought is that for limited track counts, they'll be fine. I could get 40+ tracks easily off of them, even with one ancient, slow drive. The're a lot more efficient than the old Adaptec 2490 cards, and even those were good for 32 tracks. Make sure you flash it with the right firmware and set it up with the right parameters using the ATTO utilities on the PT install CD. Best of luck, -monte- |
