Lightbulb New Avid Brand Identity, Product Announcements and an updated Avid.com

We have some very exciting news about a few really great announcements coming from Avid that are happening later today – NAB 2009,

This afternoon, Avid will unveil a new brand identity as part of our business transformation that started last year. We are also releasing some new product announcements that start to show we are making great progress responding to your requests for better interoperability and openness. And on top of that, we are going live with an updated Avid.com.

The product announcements are pretty self-explanatory, but here's a little background on why we are changing our brand identity.

We are introducing this new identity because we are in the process of bringing all of our companies together under one roof. We know we are stronger as one company than as separate parts and as such have merged the 5 units (Avid Video, Digidesign, Pinnacle, Sibelius and M-Audio) into one strong and united Avid. Some of you may already be familiar with Avid. But for those who are not, Avid got its start in video editing more than 20 years ago – in fact most everything you see on TV and at the movies was created with tools from Avid. Today, Avid makes a whole range of things for creative people – stuff that goes far beyond video editing. Avid is behind everything from film, TV, and news production, to music creation, composition and production, and even live sound consoles for major concert tours. What's pretty amazing is that most people probably can't get through a day without seeing or hearing a piece of digital media that was created by our customers. As many of you have already found in running your own business, there is a ton of opportunity when we come together as one company and can integrate our full range of offerings and services to better meet the needs of customer's workflows as they are now and in the future.

Remember, the implementation of the brand identity changes will happen over time and will be modified and enhanced as time goes on. Some of the first changes you will see are Avid.com. This new site goes live today and includes a redesigned "top layer" that provides an easy way for visitors of our other sites to learn more about Avid and our community.

These are exciting times and we are looking forward to these changes and the benefits that will start to become available to you - some are happening today with the recent product announcements.
