Default Keyboard probs like Ctrl+Alt+M not working.

It's been a long day. Just another observation - the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Alt+M for the narrow mix view is not working for me. Anyone else? Also, when using the arrow keys to navigate the menus, it appears to be traversing all menu options even though they're greyed (not available). It does this invisibly and inkludes (the NI spelling) the seperator bars. So if you you have an available menu option followed by 5 greyed items and two seperator bars before the next available, it takes you 8 down arrows to get to the next selectable item. Oh well . . .

This I can confirm, although I never noticed whether it did it in previous versions or not.

I'm using a laptop with W7 32 bit. There's a difference there for the narrow mix thing - different keyboard. As for the menus, I don't know either if the menu navgation was the same in earlier versions. I don't remember it that way, but I think I would have noticed. It's no big deal, just an observation. It would be non-standard in the Windows world (the invisibilty aspect that is).

There's a bug with PT9 related with keyboard shortcuts. This bug is related with PT not being able to map correctly the shortcuts with keyboard layouts different that UK/US (at least). So most probably if you don't own one of these keyboards/layouts you are getting this problem.

This has been already reported on Ideascale site, so if you can please vote so we can see this bug corrected ASAP.

Thnks.

The difficulty with non-US keyboards has been there for a long time.

And I'm not sure if it's good to change the current behavior.
How should Avid fix this? For instance, you use the < and > keys for nudging on US keyboards.
Now, on my German keyboard, the keys are named differently but are in the same location (mostly) of my keyboard.
They cannot "fix" this "bug", because, in this example, the < and > are on the same key for a German keyboard.
So, better leave it like it is now!

You know what, at 9.0.1 they changed the playlist shortcuts on Windows to use Start rather than Ctrl. I wonder if they did the same for narrow mix view? Try that.

I do have a US keyboard, Win 7 x86 on a Toshiba laptop. Substituting the Start key did not work either. Maybe it's getting swallowed by the OS somewhere. I tried connecting a USB keyboard also - no go. I don't switch back and forth that often and I'm getting a new Win 7 64 desktop soon. If it doesn't work there I'll report back.

I figured a solution to the problem I had.
Problem : Ctrl Alt / not working for automation write to all enabled
Ctrl Alt M not working for narrow mix view
System : PT10, Windows 7 (64-bit)

Solution : Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Region and Language > Keyboards and Languages > Change Keyboards > General > Default Input language English (United States) - US

Mine was English (India) previously.

Now both Ctrl Alt M and Ctrl Alt / are working.
This is going to save me a LOT of time. Phew!
