Default Machine control with HD Native and Sync i/o

Does anyone use it successfully with PT HD10 and HD I/O + Sync I/O?

I always used this configuration on my other HD3 Accel system:
9 pin from a beta deck to 9 pin on sync i/o.
Serial cable from HD core card to serial port on sync I/O
Always worked perfect with PT HD 7.4.

Now the same configuration but on the newer system.
When trying to choose "positional reference" serial reference option is just greyed out.
In peripherals I cannot set the deck as a master. PT says that the deck is not connected.
Any ideas?
See my specs below.

Check the deck is in remote mode
Try another 9pin cable
It has to be declared in peripherals before you can lock to serial in your session setup window.

You can always try declaring it as a remote, not a master, but have PT chase LTC. Transport = machine, hit play, PT locks positional to incoming LTC and you can layback as needed.

You need to use a USB to serial converter. Belkin is the manufacturer of them but double check and make sure you buy the supported adapter. the sync I/o never work correctly for machine control. The fact that you had it working is. Ery lucky.

Yes, I agree with Brandonx1 and can confirm that you'll need the Keyspan serial adaptor for this to work. I had always used the 9pin on the sync io with an HD3, but when I upgraded to an HD Native, I couldn't get it to work without using the Keyspan.

Thank you. Keyspan is the supported adaptor.

Ha...It looks like that now.
I'll give a try to Keyspan adapter. I read about it many times here....but thought it's "not for my case" (as I said I never had an issue with my Sync i/o)
Many thanks.

Hey Micael,
I've been using a serial-USB adapter for this since 7.4 didn't know you could do it any other way,
Remember to download the latest driver.

Thanks Mitch.
It's funny that fact that no one using (or used) a built in 9 pin on the sync I/O.
It raises a rhetoric question: what was it designed for?

fwiw, I had two systems using the built in 9 pin on the sync i/o that worked flawlessly... until 10.
