Is Pro Tools 12 only available via subscription?

I currently have PT 11 and now must get PT 12 (unfortunately had Komplete Kontrol corrupted, so I needed to redownload Native Access, but needed to upgrade from MacOs Sierra to MacOs Catalina for the latest Native Access to work and now I can't go back to Sierra for some reason so I am stuck with Cata-lame).

I don't want 12, especially if I have to pay annually for it. Is there a way that I can buy it once and for all?

You can upgrade to v12 and pay for a year and then not renew and keep it perpetually at the last version released.

But... I am running the latest version of Native Access and K12U on Sierra. No issues. Did the upgrade last month.

Not sure why you needed to update to Catalina but you might want to look into going back and that way you can stay on v11 of PT.

My apologies, I meant to say that my old Native Access had to be redownloaded and the newest version didn't fit with my MacOs that I had kept.

So now my PT 11 won't open on Catalina and I am going through the headache on how to downgrade from Catalina or pay for PT 12.

NP. I understood what you wrote.

What I was trying to explain though is that both NI Komplete 12 and Native Access are full supported on Mac OS Sierra and above.

I’m unsure why you had issues installing it, but what I would suggest if you don’t want to pay to upgrade to PT12, is roll your Mac OS back to Sierra and stay on that version as your NI software will work. I have it running that way on my system.

Hopefully you have a clone of your system. If not, you’ll have to wipe it and start from scratch. Tedious, but hey, at least you’ll have a nice clean boot drive.
