Default HD driver question

I had been happily using 10.3.10 along with 12.6 on the same system, on Yosemite. (Mac Pro 6,1 , HDX)
After the 12.7 and a HD driver update, my 10.3.10 lost its ability to see the SYNC I/O box, as well as the I/O setup went all weird (lost SPDIF on the 192 etc.)

My question is, can I revert back to a previous HD Driver and keep using 12.7?
Has anyone tried this?
Thanks

Sync I/O has been discontinued a long time ago, but it should work with PT10 as far as I know. I take it that you had success with the previous driver version? If so, try using 12.7 and see what happens.

Sync HD is supported with current versions.

Hi,
Yeah SYNC I/O has been discontinued and not supported on 12, but it should be working with 10, which it has been, until I installed the 12.7 HD driver.
I guess I'll have to suck it up and try.

Lucky my clone boot drive is still on the older 12 and works fine, albeit with the bugs that caused me to upgrade to 12.7.....

OK, so I uninstalled the HD Driver, and re-installed 12.4. Nothing has changed.
I trashed every pref, cache, and log file.

PT 10 still loads up the problematic "Avid HDX" playback engine.
I think it used to be "HDX 1 card" or something along those lines.
And, still no sign of the Sync I/O.

There must be another file somewhere I need to get rid of but where??

I have no idea. I'll escalate this to SuperMods' attention

Bouncing ideas back:
There are two DigiTest's if your using Pro tools 10 and 12 (Avid>Pro Tools>PT Utilities> / and for 12 Avid DigiTest defaults in Applications>Utilities.

Maybe a Sync I/O reset with firmware?
Or
Try to re-acquire from Pro Tools HD10 setup

Hmm, both digitest apps quit without launching.

The thing is, the SYNC I/O works fine on the clone system.
The only difference is that I had installed 12.7 on the new system.

Change is hard for these systems. Every time I change an IO element when building a new rig or redesigning an old rig with new IO interfaces or radically change the order of interfaces or even defining a new clocking scheme changing from loop sync to a sync based on an external clock the whole system needs preferences tossed, templates rebuilt and a few cycles to get settled. The detailed templates often need to be imported in to a new healthy default session with working IO. Those strange behaviors until the system settles make it easy to want to blame innocent elements in the system. Add to that the memory buffers each piece of hardware uses to keep its recent settings and you have a moving target when making changes.

Hi! I'm jumping in - I have been making a lot of new changes. I recently got a second 192 I/O. I also just got a dangerous music D-box. Today I installed a new cable - rca s/pdif output from master 192 to xlr digital input of d-box. I am also running db25 analog out of same box. I/O setup in pro tools only shows 8 analog output, no digital spdif. What "preferences tossed" are you talking about? And how do I go about getting rid of them? thx
