Default Repeat / Copy / Paste (!?) Grid / Slip (!?)

New question; I want to be able to copy/paste, in time, a clip that I am dragging from Soundbase.. It's pasting out of time, relative to the first paste.. Just looking to repeat paste the same clip, but I can't get it to paste in time/in tempo.

Shouldn't "GRID" mode keep it properly aligned?

I can just hit loop, but then it would't paste of course.. Or is there a way to make that happen(?) I want to create a song.. I'll be changing the key as it progresses. I write my own stuff, but this one blues acoustic thing triggered an idea for melody and lyrics, so I wanna finish it.

Thanks so much to anyone who can help..
