While I do think that Venue Link would be a feature I would pay USD150 for...i'm an SC48 user, so all I would get from updating the software is the ability to use the IO16 card. THAT should be a free upgrade for us.

Hi Chris,

That being said, what about service plans that include free software updates
There are service plans available that include free SW updates. You can find out more from your Avid dealer, via their Avid sales rep. We've been looking at ways to make these more attractive for VENUE customers; as is, they're a bit spendy for offering free SW updates and an advance replacement option.

What kinds of things would you folks like to see in a service plan, and at what price?

Sheldon

Good news. It is a free upgrade, so long as the upgrade is entered on the same purchase order (P.O.) as the IO16 card. Details on this will be available as soon as the IO16 card begins shipping.

Hi,

Is it "ok" for me to install new system software on these desks as I would like to use them with the new software for my show?
If you're asking if Avid allows this, the answer is "no". Each upgrade is attributed to a single system. If you're asking if it will work, you'll just have to try for yourself...

Sheldon

So exactly what new features do I get for the cost of the upgrade for an SC48?

It seems like I get the ability to use the IO16 card. But I would get a free copy of 2.9 if I ordered a IO16 card, which I think is the correct way to sell the IO16. Otherwise it would be like purchasing a printer for your computer without the drivers that you would need to purchase separately.

This may be the down side of owning the bottom of the product line. You get to pay for features for the other desks.

Nice. Thanks Sheldon.

Still crossing my fingers for more recording channels, more convenient virtual soundcheck and Venue link. :)

So, since bug fixes should be free, and the most recent major issue with the fader firmware was fixed in 2.9.1, and the problem also affects 2.8.5 users as well, should we expect a 2.8.6 to address the issue? The only reason I ask is because my hidden clip light on profile channel 8 lights up when a channel clips on the second bank.

Hi Tim,

Along with IO16 support the VENUE 2.9 release provides all of the VENUE Link features for SC48.

Hi Brian,

When VENUE Link initially launched it was available only for HD, but as as of the release of PT9 all VENUE Link features work with all VENUE systems, including SC48.
