Software updater keeps appearing in dock with Pro Tools 10.3.7 launch

Hi all

Yesterday when launching PT 10.2, it took a while longer for PT to launch. When it did, the software updater icon appeared and kept bouncing up and down in the dock. I updated the software to 10.3.7, but it's still doing the same.

WhenI am given the chance to open a session, it woks fine and the updater icon disappears from the dock.

Any ideas as to how to stop the icon from appearing in the first place?

You can do what I did and delete every instance of Software Updater that PT installs. On my system I had two but that may be because I have both PT10.3.8 and 11.1.0. I just deleted the one I knew about and used Spotlight to find the other and deleted that and no more Updater coming up when PT launches.

I never trust automatic update checker programs on any software and prefer going to the developer's site and checking myself.

Yup I removed the software updater, and it no longer appears. It still takes slightly longer for my PT to open, and when it does the 'wait' icon (or whatever the exact name is) spins for a short while.

It never used to happen but hey if that's the worst of my worries I can live with it!

As long as the wait for PT to fully open doesn't get outrageous the few seconds isn't worth worrying about. As like you say if that's the worst that happens then rock on!
