changing tempo without changing midi
Hey all
I've been writing a piece completely in midi without setting the tempo at the beginning because it is rather fluid at parts and without a meter because there isn't really one. I figured it would be easy to figure out the tempo after writing the piece. Now I'm trying to insert a tempo event where there is a solid beat so I can match the notes and the beat and clean up the midi and export it to Finale. I'm finding out that changing the tempo changes the midi note duration, etc. I've scoured the manual and the DUC (well, I've searched a bit) and can't seem to find a way to change the tempo without affecting the midi notes. I'm still relatively new to ProTools, so any advice or workarounds would be much appreciated. I figure this is the best way to get a usable midi file for notation. Thanks, Wizdoom |
