Default Surround capable audio interface for working from home

Hi to all!
Looking for some suggestions.
Many of us working in Post during this pandemic have been forced to work from home. Looks like it will be mine turn as well and need to prepare fast.
What surround (5.1 monitoring) capable audio interface do you use in home work setups?
I see that there is almost no middle ground between stereo and 16/32 IO interfaces. Especially little information is on 5.1 monitoring capabilities. Investing in Avid HDX system would be overkill for home work - dialogue editing, backgrounds, music and maybe some premix.

Focusrite & Metric Halo come to mind as both have monitoring abilities built-in. You could use both of these with PT Ultimate without needing to buy HDX or HD Native cards.

Hi,
I have good experience with the Focusrite RED4 Pre. Works with either PT (Core Audio, ASIO or Digilink) or other DAW´s. You´ll need a thunderbolt enabled computer. Provided your monitoring is on an analogue path it will work OK as it has 8 DA´s. You will also get Dante on board.
For monitoring control, if you prefer hardware, I would suggest checking from the Drawmer range, good quality sound without breaking the bank. Focusrite is also about to release a monitor controller, the R1, which will work with any Dante enable product of their range via Dante. And it´s surround capable as well.

Hope it helps!

RME / Fireface. Very stable. There are extensions to put it into 19"

The Metric Halo ULN8 (or LIO8 if you don't need the preamps) is a great box; full surround monitoring capability and it has very comprehensive DSP built in for any kind of speaker correction you may want to do. Their GUI 'console' is very capable if a bit 'head-scratching' at times.

Thanks for the recommendations! Very much appreciated!
Will start to do research and comparisons on them! They all sits in almost same price point. I am not found of idea on built in DSP but that may just be my own bias what I need to get over with. Just can't imagine how I would use it at this moment. Seeing 8ch of AES on ULN8 are very welcome sign since I will pair upcoming interface with Genelecs and they have AES inputs. Few decent preamps will find their use as well. Actually I haven't heard of Metric Halo before and I don't have idea how they stand against Avid hardware.

Speaker correction (eq and delay), Bass management come to mind immediately. See here: https://www.pro-tools-expert.com/hom...tor-controller

If you don't need/want any of that then the other reccs could all work - the new Rednet R1 looks pretty cool if you're looking to integrate into an existing Dante system.
