Thanks....got it. I'm still loading up Sup Drummer 3.0 so it might be late today or tomorrow before I get to check it out.

Apple released a statement calling it a software bug that allegedly has been fixed with the latest High Sierra update.

Good news. I guess that they didn't have their fan controls set correctly.
Here is a podcast on the topic and it doesn't seem to be a problem with Pro Tools.

Oh god, not those guys, please.
The issue is VRM related according to people who know what they're talking about.

I was just gonna say.. which is much worse than cpu thermal throttling..

It seems it really is VRM related.. a reddit user has come up with a complex "hack", well not complex for a lot of you guys, that is brining at least 20% better performance, specifically adjusts settings that affect VRM, he explains it all clearly.. i'll get the link...

One of our national broadsheets has a story running on the new MBP i9 model. Seems Apple is saying something about a firmware issue causing a heating issue... can’t see the whole story as it is pay per view.

Fix is out but it is still underperforming.. i am pretty sure it's a BS band aid to cover the VRM issue but could be wrong.. someone even said all they did was reduce turbo so it doesn't heat up as fast LOL..

without testing myself, how can one really be sure. Who knows.

All i know is, a windows laptop with that setup is a grand cheaper, but with 3 SSD inside to top it off (2 x 1TB NVME, 1 x 1TB sata), a 17" HD screen, a much better graphics card (1070), and a numeric keypad (essential for PT).
