Using Leopards\' Spaces with PT M-Powered
Hello all.
I thought some people might be interested in how you can utilize 'Spaces' with PT. I have set up PT on Leopard with Leopard configured with two work 'Spaces'. (Leopard now has multiple virtual desktops called 'Spaces') Here is how I set this up; 1) Select 'Expose'&Spaces' from Leopards Preferences control and click on 'Enable Spaces'. The number of virtual workspaces is default set to two spaces. 2) Startup PT. PT starts up with a default of the main tracking window, the mixer window and the small transport window. 3) Move the mouse cursor so that it is on the drag portion of the mix window (near the top of the window), click and hold the mouse button down, then press and hold the 'ctrl' button down, then press the right arrow key. This will move the mixer window to the second workspace. You may notice that the transport window follows you, this is normal. In fact the transport window, and any plugin windows, move back and forth between the workspaces whenever you move between the spaces. 4) Go back to the first window ('ctrl' and left arrow) and resize the mix window so that it occupies the full width of your screen. I leave enough room at the bottom of the screen so that the transport window sits just below the mix window. 5) I have also sized the Mix Window so that its height matches the height of the Track Window. This allows the transport window to always be just below those windows when transiting back and forth. It doesn't really matter where the transport window is actually located, I just do it this way for the aesthetic value. To Summarize; On Space one I have the main PT window along with the Transport control and a couple of plugin windows. On Space two I have the mixer window shown. Switching between the two of them is accomplished by pressing and holding down the cntrl button and then pressing either the left or right arrow key. This will cause the current window to slide away either left or right while bringing the other window into view. Great way to increase your work area without having to bring hidden windows to the front. Switching between the virtual workspaces is fast and stable, no audio glitches have occurred. One more benefit from Leopard. Ninia |
