Default Quick Mix Question

Say you have one Mix core card. You can connect one 888/24 or Adat bridge. Is that correct? Can you connect any more interfaces or do you need a farm card to do that? If that is the case, is it one farm card required for each additional interface?

By the way, I just called the digidesign store to ask if it was possible to buy Pro tools 6.4 TDM (not an upgrade) and the woman I spoke to did not have a clue what I was talking about, appeared not to understand what Pro Tools or Digidesign products actually are and after several "Please Holds" told me they do not sell pro tools 6.4.

I hate companies that employ sales people who do not have a clue about what they are selling. Shocking behavour!

Anyway, does anyone know where one can buy pro tools 6.4 TDM is one has purchased hardware without the software?

That would probably be a good question for Tech Support... but i notice your timestamp would have put your call at around 6am on a Saturday in "DigiLand". Try it during more "normal" hours and it would not have taken them so long to tell you they don't sell it.
You can probably get the software from someone here, the license too. Try posting in the Buy/Sell section. SB

The downloadable version of 6.4.1 TDM is $35.00 from the digistore:

http://store.digidesign.com/us/index...7&start_row=21

You can connect up to 16 channels to a mix core or mix farm card if you use the Y-cable.

888's are 8 channels per interface - so 2 per mix card.

ADAT bridges are actually 16 channels per interface, but they are viewed by pro tools as 2 separate 8 channel interfaces. In order to get 16 channels out of an adat bridge on one mix card, you need 2 interface cables and one Y Cable.

The older DSP farm will only handle 8 channels per card. You can easily identify these cards because they do not have the digiserial port like all mix cards do.
