Default Disappearing Memory Locations Window

I have some sessions created in PT7 HD. When I open them in PT8 the Memory Locations window show momentarily at the top centre of the screen but vanishes immediately the Edit Window appears.

Whatever I try I cannot get that window to show and it certainly doesn't appear to be hiding anywhere on the desktop.

I've seen mention of this in the DUC but no solutions. Any suggestions would be much appreciated as navigation is getting tricky!

Have you changed monitor size as well? If the monitors are smaller now, could it be that the memory location window was placed close to the monitor edge, and is now outside of the monitor's range?

Have you tried hitting Cmd+5 (numeric pad) to toggle the memory location window on and off?

Hello - thank you for replying.

Actually the two monitors are now larger and the resolution higher so everything should appear well within the boundaries.

I've also regularly toggled cmd+5. You can verify the on/off action of that key-sequence by looking at the Memory Locations status in the PT Window menu but although that status changes, the ML window never shows on the desktop!

Rod.

Have you tried hitting cmd+< to "Mac"-toggle windows?

Or cmd+option+W to shut all open floating windows and then toggle the ML window on and off again?

Hope it helps,
Timothy

Edited.
Ups, the Mac shortcut for toggling windows that I just gave is for German keyboard layout. Don't know if it's the same for Britain? Maybe it's alt+~ .

Thanks but none of these make any difference.

I really don't want to reinstall PT but maybe I'll have to try that.

I posted because I was aware that others had had this problem.

It's a shame that now it appears you can't request help from Digi without having to pay a lot of money - even when, as I suspect, this problem has arisen following a substantial paid upgrade!

Many thanks for your suggestions.

Yes I did although I was slightly doubtful about this as the Memory Locations window did still appear for some projects.

However, I tried using "Save as ..." to make fresh copies of the projects and in all but one case, I can now open the ML window.

My assumption therefore is that the process of opening the PT7 files in PT8 somehow corrupted the project file.

Not a reassuring situation but at least I'm largely in business again.

Thank you again for your concern and interest.

Rod.

I had a similar problem a while ago. From memory, I changed the screen resolution up or down (don't remember), saved. Then re-opened. Had to try a couple of different settings, eventually it reappeared.

Best of luck!

I did try several changes of screen resolution to no avail. Just one of infuriating niggles that comes at update time! At least the "Save as ... " solves most of the issues.

Cheers.
