Recording through busses and plugins
my workflow gets more and more a mix during the production kinda process which means I record and mix at the same time and when a song is recorded its mostly mixed as well already
but that means I´m bussing the drums through busses for parallel compression and some instrument grougs through busses as well as having many plugins on some of the tracks... and I´m still recording stuff so I was asking me if protools 10 really compensates for everything? I know that it used to be a problem with busses and delay comp for a while but as far as I get it now its fixed and ADC compensates for everything? just wondering because even if its just a few miliseconds back it would change the feel of the playing.. |

Re: Recording through busses and plugins
I'm guessing you must be on PT8?
Yes, it does compensate. However, if the plugins themselves have latency, then that could be an issue. Most EQ's and compressors have little to none. Reverbs aren't a big deal, because it just works like Pre-delay. But if you have a look-ahead limiter like Maxim or Waves L1/L2,etc., those have a lot of extra delay, so that could be an issue. I noticed your asking about PT 10, are you not thinking about just going to 11? |
