Default Any way to remove the white bar at the top of the movie window?

As stated in the title... previous versions of protools would make this bar disappear if you selected "fit to screen", but it seems to have creeped back into PT8. Maybe it's LE related... I'm using an LE system controlled via Satellite for video playback. Would suck if I had to buy another HD system just to get rid of the white line....

It's really unprofessional looking to have it projected onto a big screen with that darned thing up there.

Maybe there's a preference somewhere that I'm missing?

Hi Jamey,

More likely it is the QT's aspect ratio does not match that of the monitor. This is what happens with a mismatch even in 7.3.1 HD.

I also get the white bar, and the cards resolution is matched to the TV, and QT aspect ratio are matched.
Its not much, but enough to notice.

I use Vizios with overscan adjustments.

Could one of you guys post a screenshot of the "white bar" such that we can know exactly what you are referring to?

It's the bar across the top - with the little red x in the left corner... Picture is nothing exciting

...a REAL burn-in problem when playing 1920x1080 HD files on plasma via DVI.

Thank you for the responses! I took Tom's input and started messing around with outputting different resolution movies to see if I could resolve the issue, but based on many hours of tests, I have come to the conclusion that he is wrong. This is not a resolution issue at all. Sorry Tom, but thanks for the thought.

Here's an image from my studio. You can probably see how much of a disturbance that little strip of white is to the entire viewing experience.

Jamey,

I meant the resolution of the monitor. It has to match the ratio of the QT. Or, you have to Zoom.

On my system, I have 2 monitors, one NTSC CRT and one HD Plasma. This is the 2 desktop, dual DVI deal.

My CRT I set the 2nd monitor to 720x480. Once I "Fit Screen" there is NO white bar on any movie, UNLESS it does not match the aspect. Then I have a white bar. (This is out the Apple DVI-->Video adapter).

The Plasma 2nd monitor is 1280x1024 and there is NO white bar on most movies, unless the aspect does not match. Even NTSC 4x3 movies even go full screen, when I "Fit Screen". In SOME cases, I have to switch the Plasma to "Zoom".

For instance, right now, I am working on a film that is 24fps, and it does not "fit" the CRT, but "fits" the plasma.

So, maybe try futzing with your display aspect.

Just a quick thought - do you see an option for 'Full Screen' and, if so, does selecting it make the bar go away?
