Default Protools on intel mac how is it?

Well... I am thinking about upgrading the mac to an imac 20" and send in the Digi001 for a 002R.
What's the verdict.... is protools on intelimac working.... is it as good as a g5 dual ?

I am able to run every single session I recorded with my G5 Powermac Dual 2.0 (2.5GB RAM, 200GB dedicated audio drive). I am currently using a Macbook Core Duo 2.0 (Black, 2GB Ram, 160GB external audio drive). So far the Macbook is performing right on par with the G5. I opened up my biggest session (23 Audio Tracks, various plugs) with no problems. I also opened up a session with about 10 Audio tracks plus BFD and Reason ReWired in. It handled it like a champ. I got more errors when I was using the G5. I haven't had one single error so far. Time will tell though. So far it seems like the Intel switch was a good thing.

Using a 1.66 gHz Core Duo Mac Mini, 1 gig of ram and an external OWC Mercury Elite firewire for audio. 16 track audio post session opened so fast it surprised me. Ran beautifully, no freezes and not choppy. I was worried about the integrated graphics card on the Mini but this put my mind at ease. A Convert Selected as Files to mp3 on a 6 minute file took 8 seconds. That may be normal for you G5 guys, but I've come from a Quicksilver single 867 mHz and to me...that's freakin' flying.

Only issue.....Waves. Nothing on their site about an upgrade but I don't have that stinking WUP so that's it. No more Waves for me. Anybody out there in audio post? What's your favorite plugs for Compression/EQ?

Just tried the Dave C test and got 32 Audio + 70 Aux, also got 73 DVerbs on the DVerb test, which is slightly better than when running PTools 7 on Bootcamp XP, but the real plus side for me is that MIDI is working flawlessly with BFD and Reason. No more [bleep] XP!!!!
Happy days indeed!
Now just waiting on the plugins

Yeah. It was worth it to me. I don't really like the white. I had the extra cash, so it was no big deal. It was actually only 150 more than the white with the same specs, plus I got an educational discount. For the person who asked my setup is a Digi 002R Factory Bundle running on a Black Macbook Core Duo 2.0Ghz w/2GB of RAM and I am running my audio off of a 160Gb External Lacie Drive.
