Any good books?
I am a book learner. I prefer that over videos and such.
Are there any good 3rd party Pro Tools books out there that are reasonably up to date with the software? |

Freak is spot on.
There is a new book out " Pro tools Cookbook 2023 " but I haven't read it yet. I ordered it but haven't broke it open yet. You can also check Amazon for other books on the software. marianna

Re: Any good books?
Besides the reference guide, the only real book I have read is the "Mastering Audio - the art and science" by Bob Katz

There are also separate guides for things like keyboard shortcut and plugins, make sure you look though the whole doc set. https://avidtech.my.salesforce-sites...-Documentation For some stuff a non-DAW specific book might be useful. For getting going with audio recording or mixing I think Bobby Owsinski's books are useful. And for videos the Groove3 commercial lessons may be better than many user contributed ones, at least a little more focused that some of the meandering videos. There are a some folks who make great videos on YouTube so I'd always look and just see if they look worth watching. |

Re: Any good books?
Thank you for this. I went to school in 2008 - 2010 for Audio Prod in Boston. Not as a career choice, (I was already in my pro career which I'm still in today). I did it mainly because I wanted to learn properly. I had an amazing experience, my mind was blown, and I had great teachers, some fairly famous.
With that said, here we are in 2023 and I was asked by a friend last night. Are you afraid that your mix style is dated? My wife agreed with the friend, and said you're still using the same process from many years ago. She stated perhaps I should take a master class. Looks like Groove3 may answer that question.

Re: Any good books?
Edgar Rothermich, who is active here on this forum, has written many tutorials and books about Pro Tools. This one is a superb resource. Though written a few year ago, it’s still quite a valuable learning tool. I refer to it often.
