Default PT 12.8.2 Rev2

Hi,

any experiences with PT (HD) 12.8.2 Rev2 ?

If I understood correct from the Avid knowledge base, it's an update from Dec. 7th ....

http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/download/en355241

Just wondering that I found no post in DUC bout that update.

As I recall, Rev2 was released less than 7 days of 12.8.2's release. It primarily fixed an issue that broke VCA tracks for non-HD users. The installer name appears to be identical to the installer I downloaded when Rev2 was first released.

Looking at the post in "Technical Alerts," it looks like they announced the fix to the VCA bug on Oct 19, 2017 (not Dec 7, 2017). I assume this is also the release date for 12.8.2 Rev 2.

This was a revised download for non HD users. The original release was 12.8.2.105. The fix was non HD release 12.8.2.106. See second entry under the Technical Alerts heading.

I was wondering why the hell it was telling me there was an update to 12.8.2 when my current version was already 12.8.2. You'd think they'd put a "Rev 2" label in the damn Application Manager. Not everyone checks the DUC everyday! I thought it was just a bug and just ignored it. Then I casually come across this thread not even looking for it.

In your master account though it does say "12.8.2 R2" though.

...Any chance the next revision is called "12.8.2 D2"?

But who just randomly logs into there? I literally have no reason to log into my master account for sh*ts and giggles, and I don't. I just work. And occasionally I will get a desktop notification from Application Manager that there is an update available (which I did in this case); the way they designed it to be used. So when I get a notification telling me there is an update to the version I already have installed, I'm not thinking let me log into my master account. I'm thinking the application is bugging out.

Which is why it is in the Technical Alerts at the top of the forum since the 19th October.

12.8.3 Is just around the corner. Spoke with support, maybe 2-3 weeks away.

2-3 weeks actually is "around the corner" when it comes to AVID..
