Default Full vs. Crossgrade?

I have a Digi002 w/ PT 8 and will be upgrading to 11. I will also be doing a clean install of Mountain Lion at the same time and thus a clean install of Pro Tools.

Will I need to install Pro Tools 8 before installing 11 or is the crossgrade installer the same as the full version installer except that it checks to see that I own a PTLE license before allowing the install to proceed?

PT 11 is going to be a full installer, that won't care about any previously owned versions. It will only check the iLok for its license.
When you crossgrade, you will have to enter the serial# of the interface you purchased LE8 with. That's where the verification happens.
At least, that's how it has been with PT 9 and 10.

PT11 will be the first version to allow another version to co-exist on the same drive (not sure if it will allow any version or just v10).

All versions prior to 11, needed to have previous version un-installed before installing upgraded version.

You might also want to wait until we all find out if the old 002 is going to work as its not supported. Since the 003 IS supported, and is so similar, the odds are pretty good, but do wait a bit(besides, when you go to 11, NONE of your RTAS plugins are going to work).

I presume most of the stock / included plug-ins in PT8 will have AAX counterparts included in PT11?

The only plug-3rd party plugin I purchased is the Studio Classics Collection from Waves.... v6. I imagine I'll have to buy a WUP to get the AAX version of that... if they even have the AAX version yet.

As far as the Digi002... I'm due for a new AD so I may use this as an excuse to upgrade :)

Waves has said that AAX Native will be ready and Avid was running Waves during the Demo. You will need to be Wupped up to get the latest installers.
