Default Freezing rewire tracks?

Ive just upgraded to Reason 10.

Was experimenting with rewiring into Pro Tools, & there doesn't seem to be any way to freeze tracks over rewire.

Is this by design? Or am I doing something wrong.

Pro Tools 12 & Reason 10 working together as they should be otherwise.

(apologies mods, posted first in Virtual Instruments forum, might be better here but couldn't see how to delete other thread)

Interesting. PT 12 and Reason 8 here. Rewire works well. I send midi from instrument tracks to Reason and pipe stuff back into the same instrument tracks in PT, but I've never tried to freeze it. I believe freezing the instrument tracks should work. How is your PT/Reason rewire setup configured? Is your midi from PT or Reason?

I was just experimenting.

Piped a song sequenced in Reason into PT via Rewire.

Tried rewire on an AUX and instrument track & still no dice with the freezing .

Does anyone know if it is supposed to work? I stupidly upgraded Reason without testing this first. doh

Maybe experiment a bit more...I don't think it's the upgrade. I've used Reason since Reason 1, and those guys (unlike some other guys we know! ) definitely have their act in place. I've never had any cause for complaint.

As i say, Reason/rewire works fine. Can anyone *FREEZE* tracks that are sent in over rewire??

Come to think of it, if you are sequencing in Reason, that would seem rather tricky. Even though I haven't felt the need to freeze tracks with midi from PT, I know it'll work. PT sort of 'plays back' the whole thing at high speed, then freezes the data. With midi from Reason, (maybe I'm wrong) perhaps commit would be a better choice. You still have all your midi data, and can re-tweak later if necessary.

Default Re: Freezing rewire tracks?

ok, well who knows why but its working today.

I started a song in reason using a loop on 'redrum', then recorded guitars on a Reason audio track.

Then rewired it into PT via two separate Auxes

Then I added a Bass track, but this time did the midi in PT on an instrument track, but piped the audio back though on the same track via another separate pair of rewire channels.

Today, for reasons (ho ho) unknown it all just frees fine.

Great. I had kind of abandoned the Reason/PT combo a few years ago in favour of Complete Ultimate, but I wanted to give it another go now we have freeze.

This is great news it works !
