Default I/O... relative to what in the mind of PT?
I'm running PT 11 Vanilla with an Apogee Symphony 8x8+8. When I go to I/O setup and click the Default button, why does it default to different settings in different sessions? In short, what is it actually defaulting to if that target can change?
I totally know how to manually change, save, import and export whatever settings I want — that's not my question — I'm curious what "Default" is RELATIVE TO in the mind of Pro Tools? For example, what the hell are these "default" inputs relative to? Close that session, open another and I get these "default" inputs...

Re: Default I/O... relative to what in the mind of PT?
The default should be relative to the Interface set as Playback Engine.
Of course it should not be randomly changing every time you open PT. Does your Apogee show as Playback Engine each time you open PT or does it change as well? Do you have latest relevant Apogee driver installed? I'm not a Mac guy so I don't know if there are any potential issues with your OS.

Re: Default I/O... relative to what in the mind of PT?
One cause for differences you will see is that just hitting the "Default" button won't remove/rename any IO that is in use in the session. You need to manually delete those and then default the IO.

Re: Default I/O... relative to what in the mind of PT?
So if you set all your channels to No Input and No Output, with no sends or aux channels, and THEN hit Default in I/O, would it theoretically grab the labels from your interface?
