Need a new quieter fan to HD IO..

Yes. Before I removed the fans from the HD i/o and 192 I was sure to check the specs. The original fans appear to be the same in both the 192 and HD i/o. I put the exact same fan in both units. Like I said, HUGE improvement in the noise floor.

Fwiw - this is the fan used in our 192 I/O updates. Helped quite a bit, as we're running four 192s off in our HD Native card.

I think Noctua make great fans, but the Silenx is even quieter. At least from the specs sheet, however much worth that is...
I used Silenx fans in my Avid units as well, and I'd buy them again. Couldn't wish for a better result.

Same here, and it performs heavy duty (running several days and nights in a row without turning it off). No problems.

Hmmm.... well... I guess I'm ordering 5 of the SilenX EFX-08-15's

I will be very happy to have the db levels halved.... good lord they are loud... getting sick of it

You know what's weird though - all firmwares are up to date (latest)

One HD I/O is particularly loud... and both HD I/O's are louder than our 192's

Doesn't make a whole lot of sense if they all use the same fans....

At any rate.... they will all get the SilenX fans now

Changed the fans in two HD I/O modules a 3/4 year ago. No issues. Love it.
