With that said, Sonnox EQ has 4 different types by default, and with HDX license option to buy fifth GML option. Google it. It takes time to learn how to use Sonnox EQ/DYN to their maximum potential.

I already made the mistake of buying Waves without realizing it was all native!. This is what happens when you've been using pt9 until now.
Plugin Alliance/Brainworx here. Most of the plug-ins are HDX DSP. A bit lacking in reverbs, delays and effects but the EQs and compressors range from good to great. I’ve also found them stable and trouble free.

None of the Slate plug-ins are HDX AFAIK.

And don't forget Empirical Labs Arousor compressor (Distressor plugin), which is AAX DSP as well.

I'm on HD Native and have an older HD6 TDM system I use for tracking. I've explored PA's website and there are older TDM installers for some of their plugins although I haven't used them and I do own some of their plugins like the Focusrite & Neve channel strips and the BX Digital. For TDM & RTAS users here's the list and link:

https://www.plugin-alliance.com/en/legacy/rtas-tdm.html

Here are all our plugins that have TDM installers available:

bx_boom!

bx_control V2

bx_cleansweep V2

bx_digital V2

bx_dynEQ V2

bx_meter

bx_shredspread

bx_solo

Elysia Alpha Compressor

Elysia mpressor

Maag EQ4

Noveltech Character

Noveltech Vocal Enhancer

SPL Attacker

SPL De-Verb

SPL EQ Rangers Vol. 1

SPL Free Ranger

SPL Mo-Verb

SPL Passeq

SPL Transient Designer

SPL TwinTube

SPL Vitalizer MK2-T

Actually, they've already been deemed compatible with Big Sur as well. That was quick. Usually I'm waiting till new year.

I just can't really comment as to Slate as I'm not a user.

I try to use mostly AAX DSP plugins with my HDX system. My suggestions are:

Sonnox- they may be "old" but they are wonderful tools that do their job without much color or artifacts and they are very CPU efficient. EQ, dynamics, inflator and limiter get used in every mix. They are my "go to" plugins

McDSP- also "old" but superbly coded, sound great and have a more "analog" vibe. I also use them in every session. Ultimate compressor and Ultimate channel strip are really great as is the SA-2 Dialog processor and the Futzbox is a ton of fun as well.

PA, in particular Brainworx is also firmly committed to AAX-DSP and in particular I love the channel strips and the Townhouse buss compressor.
