Minimum Broadcast Levels

Hi all,

I've been a mixer for nearly 20 years now, and I just did a mix that has me a bit perplexed. The whole thing is SFX: birds chirping and wind. The client wants the mix to be "subtle", but I'm concerned that if the levels are too low, the mix will be rejected. So my question is, what (if any) is the minimum overall volume for a commercial intended for US broadcast?

Aren't you guys at -24lkfs? Or does the broadcaster/distributor have specs you should be following?

Hi fellow San Franciscan, If your below -26 you can have the producer mention it to the trafficking house to leave it for creative reasons and it should be all good.

Tell the producer to make it very clear that the provided level is intentional. And maybe a note that there is no VO or anything so QC doesn't think it's a bad output.
