Question about selling digi hardware...Future upgrades?

Hi all. Sorry if this has been covered before. I want to sell my mbox 2 pro with pro tools 8 after crossgrading to PT9. From what I understand from discussions here, I can do this so long as I inform the buyer that I have already used the hardware for the PT9 crossgrade.

What is unclear to me, is wether or not selling my old hardware counts me out for any future upgrades or discounts. Basically, are my hardware and PT9 the same 'product' essentially?? Does transferring ownership of the mbox change anything regarding my PT9??

From my experience over the past hour, avid make it difficult to contact them. Is it possible to get support without one of their support codes that you have to buy? What's up with that? Maybe I missed something.

Selling your hardware will not affect your PT9 or any upgrades from that software. From here on out, upgrades will be based on your Ilok license.

The new buyer, of course, will benefit from any hardware trade-up deals, like the current trade up to HD Native, etc.

It would have no effect on future upgrade possibilities, other than ones that may be offered for owners of hardware going to new hardware offerings we may put out.

If you're looking for free support - this is where to get it (the DUC). All phone and email support is either included with the purchase of some new products or paid (via an ASC).

That's what I assumed - just sold my 003 yesterday. Still using PT9 though...

Just to confirm, there is no problem selling the 003 and keeping your PT9 license? Ive been searching around for this answer, but its a hard one to lock down. If you fill out the license transfer form the new user receives the PT8 license?

Correct. You keep PT9, the new user gets PT8 transferred to him.
