Raoul, I have to add that I blew up a cheap OEM N-vidia card when I went to use the windows driver. I think if you uninstall the video driver in the control panel then reboot like it would tell you to do that would be your safe bet. Windows would give you limited resolutions. I would try to find out from Avid if they knew what was addressed when they fixed the freeze problem.
Also, I remember reading way back in 2006 that having a different northbridge and southbridge on your motherboard can wreak havoc but that would be on any program and usually messes up things like firewire audio drivers. My Motu 128 could only run at low latency. That's a good thing until I added more plugs and had to render in real time like Pro Tools does. Check your motherboard for alike bridges. It should be in your Sandra report. I didn't read yours.
I'll have a check now.

A big thank you to all the people here who are chiming in to help me it's very much appreciated

Just checked my Sandra report couldn't see anything about north/south bridge

Ive 99% sorted my problem YES YES YES YES

1 Ok i took my graphics card out and put it in another slot and now the meter freeze has gone when i drag a send around PERFECT very happy

2 No more freeze in the midi eg moving notes etc PERFECT very happy

3 Still get the freeze when it saves and when i try to use the strip silence feature. This is not that much of a big deal, but im determined to get this running perfect.

Has anyone else tried the strip silence feature to see if it freezes for them. Move the threshold left and right and it will stop and start which is annoying.

But hey i as Meat Loaf said 2 outta 3 aint bad

I am still out of town and can't check. I will give third eye a call today and have him check. But for some reason I am thinking it has always don't that w strip silence.

My other thought is still getting your bios updated.

The instructions are in the manual and on the site. I don't have time to look them up right now. Third eye thinks another guy figured out how to do it from a flash drive but would have to find where it was posted. I can't find it but might do a search around this forum for your board.

Thanks Guitardom. I spoke to supermicro yesterday and they helped me change my RAM frequency to 1333 and the 24 part but said there is no option to change voltage
