HD Omni i/o

I'm deliberating between purchasing an HD8x8 or an Omni (I'm unclear around it's i/o flexibility). Essentially, I'm mixing TV shows and will need to simultaneously output 4 channels of analogue for monitoring and 4 channels of AES digital to the client digi/xdcam deck. Is the Omni up to this?

I haven't done that exact thing, but looking at the hardware window yes you should be able to do that. IE stereo CR mon, stereo headphones send, 4ch AES to the deck? Or quad and quad? Either should work from what I'm looking at.

The CR monitoring quality of the omni should not be overlooked. My bigs are super high efficiency drivers and will expose upstream noise quite noticeably. I've tried a few different monitor controllers high end; and audiophile switched resistor networks etc fed from aurora and HDIO and the OMNI is very very good.

This can be done. Just keep in mind it's a max of 8 outs, regardless of analog or digital. So you could have 4 channels of analog out and 4 channels of AES/EBU out. Any output, analog or digital, that is not assigned to a monitor path, becomes just a straight line out.

I second that. It can be done easily on OMNI.
