Default Status of OSX 10.6.6 and 9.0.1?

I tried to search, but you can't search for "10.6.6" without getting an error.

What's the current status of PT 9.0.1 and OSX 10.6.6 playing nice together? As of yet, I haven't updated either (I'm at PT 9.0 and OSX 10.6.5) because everything is running perfectly.

I see 10.6.6 is listed on Avid's compatibility page, but is anyone experiencing any problems at this point?

Alright so tons of research here on the DUC has payed off. I patiently waited to do the install until I was confident that I would have answers to most of the issues people have had here and shazzam- works like a charm.... so far!! I tested it to destruction about a dozen times, just to see what it's limits were with different types of loads and I gotta say I'm very pleased. The only thing weird is that instead of PT giving me CPU errors it would just crash. Not so good. I do however know what it takes to kill it. Interesting test:

I started a new session at 24bit/48k and put up a few mono audio tracks. Started piling Eleven Free amp sims until it died. ADC on short. The playback buffer changed from 128-1024 samples only changed CPU load by 1-4%. When I started scaling back cores, it got better and better. In fact, it's best performance was at 1 core-99%. Not by a little.... BY A LOT. So here I am thinking WTF is the point of "seeing" 8 cores if 1 works best??!!

Then I decided to load in a session with 40-45 audio tracks, moderate amount of plugs, some aux send fx's, NO VI's and low and behold, it wasn't happy. In fact I couldn't even get a CPU error... it would just totally crash. So I throw it back up to 6 cores and voila: CPU usage 10-12%, everything's peachy.

So what I figure is, the VI's seem to run better with 1 core getting thrashed, and higher track counts enjoy more cores just breezing along.

I'm going to run some old sessions (without ADC unfortunately) and try spending a solid day with it and see what happens. I'm gonna toss the Massey stuff and drumagog 4 on and see what happens as well. I'll let everyone know how it goes!!

Is the Massey stuff working yet....?
I also heard a rumour that Waves and 10.6.6 weren't playing nicely... Is that right?

Glad to hear that otherwise is great. Odd though, as I thought the only difference from 10.6.5 was the mac app store..

10.6.6 and PT 9.0.1 is working fine here. Don't have much from Waves but Renaissance Maxx bundle (V7) works fine and Massey CT4, VT3 and Tape Head are solid.

It's on the first page of the DUC under Technical.

10.6.6 (32bit kernel) and 9.0.1 working completely fine here. I have the Waves Sound Design Suite (V8 now) and it works just fine.

So it looks as though the majority of folks are probably aok at this point. With some isolated problems here and there, which is probably the usual ratio with any updates.

I still get nervous when everything is running perfectly. I think I'll leave it be until I have a real need to upgrade the OS or PT.
