Default Pro Tools 12 Crashing

Hi Folks,
Any help you can give me on this would be appreciated...
So, there I was happily recording on my PC with Windows 7...I'd finished a project and thought I'd upgrade to Windows 10...bad move...
All seemed OK on a new session but when I reverted to an old session, first I had to reauthorize Omnisphere but then had no audio at all.. closed PT and when I relaunched am getting a AAE - 9178 error message then crash.....can't even open Protools now at all.
I've since gone back to Windows 7 but have the same problem...no surprises there.

Am completely helpless here so any help would be gratefully received....is this the time to get a Mac?
Ta,
Al

Does your session have a click track(with the stock Click plugin)? If so, remove it and see what happens If that helps, just freeze or commit the click so you can work without the plugin active

Open the session with all plugins inactive like this:

Just hold the SHIFT key down and double-click on a session icon.

Then unfortunately you will need to start by adding all the plugins that aren't Avid into the unused folder, then start by adding back something like 3-5 at a time and restart PT to see which plugins are the offending ones as the way you explain it I bet there are one of more outdated plugins that hinders PT to load up.

You don't even need to have one of them instantiated for PT to issue errors.

Best of Luck and please let us know if that works or not.

Thanks for your responses...I had no luck unfortunately so have reinstalled Windows 10 and installed a new PT12 latest update...am now getting nothing.Protools won't launch at all. When I click on it it appears to try to load..I get a 'do you want this software etc etc' I click yes and then nothing happens?Really tearing my hair out here now.Its almost as though it tries to load but something is preventing it..running as administrator on a PC...previously was on Windows 7 with no problems whatsoever..have tried the root also in the divide sign folder to no avail also..

Can't find anything related to this anywhere so your help much appreciated.

Highly recommend 12.4 on Win 7. At least around here, it's trouble-free.

Folks
Still not having any luck with this problem..am back on Windows 7..with the latest Protools version..PT launches but I get an AAE 9178 message every time the installation bar gets to Guitar Rig 5... Have uninstalled but am still seeing this message. I'm thinking a complete clean install of Windows is the only way I can clear it, But trying to avoid it as I hate reinstalling all the plug ins!

Any ideas would be received gratefully.
Thanks
Al

Did you ever find a solution to this problem? I'm currently experiencing the exact same thing. Fresh installation of PT 12.4 on windows 10, while loading plugins i get AAE error -9178.

I am experiencing this as well. Windows 10 version 12.6.
I upgraded from 10.3.4 but uninstalled as per the instructions and have never been able to launch pro tools with a clean session or old session as I get the aae 9178.
I have removed every single plug in from every location I can find but it still crashes at loading plug ins even though I have removed them from the folders.

Any ideas? Relative newbie

Before I removed all plug ins from their locations it would stop at a plug in, but no it just stops and does not list the plug in it is trying to load so I have no idea which plug in (surely cannot be any now?) is causing it.
