This is why its much cheaper to buy a Mix Core Card and do the upgrade.
Ok thanks for setting the record straight

Hi guys I've just found a mix core card for £125 and I own a 003 rack plus

Should I buy the mix core card (does it have to be fully working) and trade up to pt native and sell the 003 on eBay. Is that all I need for a 54% discount coz if it is I'm up for that

anyone help me out here

thanks

I'm wondering whether or not you would have to be the registered owner of the core card. In other words, one off eBay may already be registered to original owner.

Not sure though so you may want to find that out before you spend the money.

I'm pretty sure the seller of the core card would have to do a transfer of ownership form for you, in order for you to be able to do the trade in.

Also, keep in mind that the 54% discount trade in of the old core card is only for the new HD Native card. You still then need to buy one of the Avid interfaces at regular price (you could also use an old 192 or 96 i/o, etc.).

Whereas the 003 trade in is a percentage off the whole bundle, including the interface.

You'll have to figure out which way you do better. Some dealers offer discounts on the interfaces. In that scenario you might be better off buying an old card and trading for the new card.

But if you're paying the typical advertised price, you may be better off trading the 003 for the new bundle, because you may get more for the 003 that way than what you can sell it for (the 003 products have really declined in value).

Yes, you need to do a transfer of ownership.

Pardon my ignorance on this, but is there a difference between the mix core card and the mix farm card? And would they both qualify for the exchange to HD Native?

Only the core card would qualify. And offer ended march18th, although my dealer said you could still get in through the end of march, but that's today.
