Digi002r locked up with the mute LED on!

Im in the middle of a mixdown and took a break to eat, powered down my 002r. I came back a few hours later and powered up the 002r and booted Pro Tools on my Mac G5 and noticed the G5 was not communicating with the 002r. I restarted the computer, checked all connections and cycled power on the 002r. I noticed that no matter what button I pushed on the front panel nothing happened. The only LED on was the mute LED. I have never had any problems with my system up to this point and didnt change anything per my last session...any ideas?

Geeze Man, without trying to be harsh, at least go through a couple of pages before posting a thread.(there are stacks on this) Try doing a search on "Power harness". Contact your dealer if the unit is brand new, otherwise register it, and go through the Tech Support channel, and they'll send you a new one ( with better contacts)

Actually, this should be a sticky at the top of the forum. It's been gooing on for almost two years, and I see no indication it's been remedied.

As I said in my post, I did not know what or where the problem was with the 002r. Also, I did search DUC for quite some time and did see a few power related issues, but did not see the syptoms my 002r is showing. Is this a flog the new guy thing? : )

Also I was under the impression if you opened up any hardware you void the warranty...true?

Opening the unit doesn't void the warranty. Reseating the power harness inside will mostly likely wake the unit up, or call Digidesign, describe the symptom, and they'll take care of it.

Thanks! I did as you said and the unit is up and running again. Should I go ahead and ask for a replacement harness or just clean the one I have?

If you get a replacement one, they'll also send you some contact cleaning fluid as well, which should make the fix of a more "permanent" nature.

No, this is not "flog the new guy", but there are loads of threads on this already, I'm just tryin' to prod folks into checking a few of them first.

I just cant believe it. Its like a point of regression in audio manufacturing.

Im mean if you bought a crappy mixer and kept it in a dirty dusty space and smoked non-stop you might expect the pots to get noisy

but I really didnt think I was going to have to stop work because Digidesign hadnt bothered to spend enough on their power connectors

My 002 is at home, Im not based in a swimming pool or a sauna!!
