Default Pro Tools shifts audio alignment when recording

Hello,

I am using Pro Tools 2020.30 on a 2017 iMac Pro. I am running Catalina OS and have been for a while with no issues.

Let me be clear: I understand that to avoid audio getting mis-aligned, I must disable plugins on the Master Channel when I record. No Problem there.

This is different apparently because I AM 'making inactive' ALL the plugins on the Master channel before I record. And then it's not only after I record, but AS I record, I hear the drums or the bass lose their time alignment.

I recorded drums onto a stereo audio track and the bass is the Trillian module in stereo.

I even recorded the Trillian midi bass onto a new Audio stereo track to "lock it in." But then it was the drums that lost their time alignment.

I'm not sure what else to share. I appreciate any assistance.
Thanks,
Frank B.

What is your buffer sample size in Setup/Hardware settings? It is another thing that could cause a delay.

Right now, it’s 1024. That might be too high for recording maybe.
