Default 4K Monitor Support

I am wondering if there is any word about an intention to support 4K resolution.

It is not practical for a lot of reasons for me to have a separate rig for Pro Tools. While that might be the conventional wisdom here, I can tell you for me, that is never going to happen.

Pro Tools is an integrated working component in the ecosystem of my Media production rig. And this includes video editing, post VFX, 3D Animation and 2D Graphics.

I will make a stretch that I am not alone in this.

Changing monitor resolution is a real PIA. Especially with a two or more monitor set up.

Any word?

You mean distorted (too small fonts) in a small size screen? at our studio we have 43"and 49" screens and it looks quite nice on both. (windows10)

I agree - 4K monitor support is needed. Avid? Is there a way to write a script or something to switch resolutions? Store it on desktop?

It is not the size of the screen it is the resolution. The app has to have 4K scaling or all kinds of odd things happen. Fonts cut off, plug in screens not fully displayed. That kind of thing.

The link I provided is the only source I know. Currently 4K is not supported in Pro Tools.

If you are not having issues can you share your system settings? Screen resolution and monitor max resolution (in the monitor menu itself)?

Nope. But I'm pretty sure Avid makes a huge point in release notes

yes - the mix window has a height constraint for sure.

I found this thread b/c I use an iMac 5k with the resolution set to 3200x1800 and I use an external 4k monitor set to - 3840x2160

Just for fun in mix view I selected all channel options including expanding all sends -
Only to find that the "mix window" is constrained and wont open fully on the 4k monitor - it looks to be constrained to a max size of about 1600px in height - after that you get vertical scroll bars. It looks like the 4k monitor would work with ALL mix item visible - It is just that you can't make the mix window big enough - the other windows are fine -at least the edit window and midi edit window open to full height -

FYI - Mac users -
On an iMac you can go to "display settings" and opt+click on the "Scaled" radio button and many more display options become available with the actual pixel count specified, as opposed the vague "Larger Text" to "More Space" selections. I don't think the options are available on Mac laptops (not 100% on that though)

Also for those who confuse size and resolution.
Screen size has absolutely nothing to do with pixel resolution.
