Default dae memory low when opening saved sessions

I have been using v. 5.1.234 (older) on a pc with windows me. me has been a constant problem with crashing and freezing so i bought a new system:

Pentium 4 2.4 ghz, i gig ram, using windows 98se.

i was told se was a better system for this pt version. now when i try to open my session files from my secondary storage drive, i get dae memory low.

if i open a new session and record on my new system, i dont have this problem. it only happens when i try to open from my secondary hard drive.

do i need to upgrade ptle or is it a simple fix? is it a problem with my drive? could it be a system problem?
