Default Commit Track bug

Too often Committing Instrument tracks results in either a blank (no audio) waveform, or a partial waveform, with either the first or second half missing. Redoing Commit usually fixes the problem, but this bug doesn't inspire confidence. You have to be sure you check after every Commit procedure. I also always Consolidate MIDI clips, but that doesn't prevent this from occurring.

This has been happening for years now. Would love to see this bug killed.

Bahaha! In any case, could you use the "Commit up to this Insert" function on the last plugin? That's how I commit tracks and have never had a problem(but it may not suit your needs)

Did you find a work around or solution @SomeOtherGuy? I am having the exact same problem. (I can't commit to insert because the instrument tracks are linked to VEP via and Aux in PT)

Pro tools 2021.6.0 Big Sur
VEP 6.5.18957

Many thanks if you have any clues.

I don’t think they ever tried to fix this, since it still happens every once in a while. I don’t remember ever seeing it in any lists of fixes. It may be plug-in related, hard to know.

thanks for getting back to me. I found a workaround for my situation I think. I noticed most ofthe error committing was from a certain softsyth - BBC Orchestra (Full) run via VEP. I found that if I increased the preload number in the BBC player (number of samples that get preloaded into the memory) it alleviates the situation. I have to wait (up to like 5-10 minutes) to make sure all instruments are properly loaded before opening pro tools. It seemed to solve the problem but I have to be careful with an already struggling latency issues due to so much RAM being used. Its a real pain. but a workaround at least.
