Video Playback problems

Hi,

I recently made the giant leap from PTHD3 8 to PT12HD (using an antelope audio interface so core audio).

I just dragged a movie file that I exported from imovie into Protools - PT can't play it back. It toggles between complaining about buffer size or H/W error. The file plays back fine on the computer and in Logic and Ableton live. Ends with mp4.
I also tried the movie I am currently working on - .mov and same issue.

How do I solve this?

Lots and lots of threads about this here on the DUC. Basically, PT11/12 is pickier about what video codecs it will reliably playback. In exchange for this, we get a video engine that is near gen-lock in quality, without too much hardware.

I have a preset in Compressor that I use to convert incoming video to the DNxHD codec for use in Pro Tools. I recommend that or Apple ProRes. Configured properly, you should have reliable video playback. I also recommend AJA hardware for playback. Blackmagic is a PITA, and extended desktop is dodgy.
